A Gainesville man was arrested Monday on allegations he inappropriately touched a 13-year-old girl whom he met online, according to a Gainesville Police Department report.
Kaleb Levi Geiger, 22, 720 SW 34th St., Apt. N139, was charged with lewd and lascivious assault on someone under the age of 16.
The incident occurred on Jan. 23 at 3 p.m. on the Hogtown Creek Greenway nature trail at 3315 NW Fifth Ave.
Police reported that Geiger and the girl had met online and corresponded online and by telephone for 1½ years. They met face to face one other time.
The two, along with a friend of the girl, met at Westside Park and then walked to the greenway. On the trail, Geiger allegedly grabbed the girl's bare breasts by reaching inside her shirt, kissed her and grabbed her buttocks, the arrest report states.
The girl told police that Geiger knew she was 13 and that she knew he was 22.
Police reported that the friend only saw the two kissing.
Under police questioning, Geiger initially denied any inappropriate behavior but added that hanging out with a 13-year-old and giving her a hug was "stupid," police said. He later admitted to accidentally touching her breast with both hands while trying to help her up, police added.
Geiger said that his hand may have slid up the girl's shorts while he was giving her a piggy back ride. He also admitted to kissing her on the lips, but said that was accidental, the report states.
