Each issue of Gainesville Magazine unlocks another of the city's many hidden resources.

Inspired by the boom in entrepreneurial activity in Gainesville these days? Do you have what you think is a winning idea for a business or new product but have no clue about where to start? Or perhaps you're ready to grow your business to the next level but are not sure how.

Luckily, Gainesville is brimming with resources for the budding businessperson.

One place to begin — the Gainesville-Area Chamber of Commerce's Entrepreneur Resource Center, which directs you to the tools to launch or grow your business, from networking to support to training to funding, via its website at There you'll find information on what the Chamber calls the “entrepreneurial ecosystem” in the Gainesville region.

We asked Staci-Ann Bertrand, director of industry development at the Chamber, to put together a sample of Gainesville's resources. According to Bertrand, here you'll find start-up space or workshops at low or no cost, and advice as you navigate the waters of opening or growing a business. Here's her list.
