In her senior-season debut, Elcin Ulu led the Florida women's team at the 2014 Florida Challenge on the The Quarry at Black Diamond Ranch. Ulu shot even-par (144) in 36 holes to place fourth individually as the Gators finished 17-over (593), fourth overall.
Junior Camilla Hedberg, last year's co-champion, showed her experience on The Quarry and fired rounds of 73-74. Hedberg ended the day at just three-over (147) and placed in the top-10 individually. Redshirt sophomore Katie Mitchell shot five-over on the day.
The Gators head to California next month to compete in the Northrop Grumman Regional, where they placed fifth out of 16 teams last spring.
Head Coach Emily Glaser Says: “It was a tough day out there for us. We made too many mistakes that you can't afford on a course that was scoreable. We have a few weeks to get ready for Palos Verdes and we will make the most of them.
“Elcin [Ulu] had a solid day and I am proud of her. She hasn't competed for us in a while and she played like a senior leader today.”
