A University of Florida building was evacuated Tuesday morning after police say there was a gas leak in one of the chemistry labs.

At 10:27 a.m., people working in one of the labs at Leigh Hall noticed the smell of gas in the room, according to University Police public information officer Maj. Brad Barber.

UPD is working with Gainesville Fire Rescue to determine the source of the leak, Barber said.

Barber added that traffic has been blocked off at Buckman Drive, but that all other operations remain normal.
