Administration at a few east Alachua County schools is getting rearranged.
Harrell Harrison, transportation director for Alachua County Public Schools, retired unexpectedly over winter break, district spokeswoman Jackie Johnson said.
James Speer, currently the principal of Horizon Center Alternative School, will be recommended for the transportation director's position at Tuesday's School Board meeting, Johnson said.
In turn, he'll be replaced at Horizon by Veita Jackson-Carter, principal of Hawthorne Middle/High School.
Libby Hartwell, principal of Shell Elementary, will take over at Hawthorne High while remaining principal of Shell. She'll be based at Hawthorne Middle/High but will preside over both schools, Jackson said.
“You end up having kind of a domino thing happening,” she said.
All the recommendations will appear Tuesday before the School Board, which has the final say.
