A Bronson man was seriously injured in a Monday night accident in Levy County that occurred when he failed to put his pickup truck in park after he stopped, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

John Goad, 67, was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital following the crash, which occurred at 8:50 p.m. at 12751 NE 80th Ave., FHP reported in a news release.

Goad was driving a 2004 Ford pickup on 80th Avenue, which is a private driveway. He stopped, opened the door and put his left foot on the ground.

The truck's back tire then ran over Goad. The truck traveled about 93 feet before hitting a large garbage receptacle, the report states.
