A Gainesville man already convicted of beating his mother was arrested early Friday morning for the sixth time on charges of attacking his mom.
Teejay Morton, 29, of 3224 SW 25th Way, Apt. 1, was charged with domestic battery by strangulation and domestic felony battery by a repeat offender, Gainesville police reported.
Morton and his mother live together. They began arguing just after midnight in the living room.
The report states that Morton pushed his mother backward onto a mattress on the floor, jumped on top of her and held her down.
Morton wrapped a blanket over her face in an attempt to smother her, according the report. The victim told police she believes she could not breathe for a short period.
The two rolled on the floor. Morton stood up and kicked the woman twice in the back of her head with his bare feet, police reported. Morton walked away, and his mother was then able to call police, GPD said.
Under police questioning, Morton said that “just the usual stuff” occurred between him and his mother, according to a police report.
Alachua County court records show that Morton was adjudicated guilty of domestic battery in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
