A 67-year-old Trenton woman died on Christmas Eve when a pickup truck turned into the path of her car at the intersection of State Road 26 and Gilchrist County Road 341, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Connie Hootman was driving alone eastbound on SR 26in a 1996 Ford Mustang at about 6:12 p.m. Tuesday when a westbound 2012 Dodge Ram driven by Justin Gore, 30, of Chiefland, apparently attempted to turn left from SR 26 onto CR 341, colliding with the left side of Hootman’s Mustang.

Hootman, who was not wearing a seat belt, died en route to a local hospital, FHP said. Gore, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured in the crash, troopers said.

Charges in the accident are pending further investigation, FHP said.
