Bomb threat forces evacuation of Hawthorne Middle/High School

Hawthorne Middle/High School was evacuated because of a bomb threat Thursday morning, Alachua County Public Schools reported.

The Alachua County Sheriff's Office swept the campus. The school reopened by 11:30 a.m., according to the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were investigating the apparent hoax.

Students were evacuated to the football stadium and parents were notified that they may pick up students from the stadium if they wished, the district said in a news release.
