The Gainesville Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that took place at an apartment complex southeast of the University of Florida campus Thursday morning.

GPD spokesman Officer Ben Tobias says a man was robbed of his wallet and cell phone by three other men at about 11:20 a.m. near Royal Village apartments, 1102 SW Sixth St.

One of the assailants had a box cutter, police said.

Tobias said the man who was robbed had minor injuries but didn’t request emergency medical services.

The three robbers were seen heading southbound on Southwest Sixth Street toward Southwest 16th Avenue in an older-model blue Ford Taurus.

Anyone with information may call GPD at 393-7700.
