A Gainesville couple was arrested Tuesday afternoon after police say they stole nails from Home Depot and attacked the employees who tried to stop them from escaping.
The Home Depot loss prevention officer saw Adam Henderson, 34, of 630 NW 58th Ave., take the nails from the shelf and give them to his wife, Rachael Henderson, 28, of 2008 NW 40th Terrace, according to a Gainesville Police report.
Rachael Henderson put the nails in her purse and the two then left the store on Northwest 13th Street at 12:34 p.m. without paying, the report said.
The employee followed them into the parking lot and ordered them to stop, but the couple started to run. The employee ran in front of them and told them again to stop, but Rachael Henderson pushed him and Adam Henderson punched, grabbed and pushed him, the report said.
Rachael Henderson ran when the store manager came to help the employee, but Adam Henderson stayed and began wrestling with him as well. The store manager and the employee both were injured but declined treatment, the report said.
The couple were each charged with one felony count of unarmed robbery, according to the police report. They were both released from the Alachua County jail as of Wednesday.
