The holiday season is full of cheer and celebration – both of which, naturally, call for a new outfit.
Holiday parties are often the most memorable events of the year. They bring family and friends together with festive meals, music, cocktails and much-anticipated seasonal flavors.
The holidays are also a time to celebrate beloved annual traditions, such as attending “The Nutcracker” ballet performed by the Dance Alive National Ballet. Look magical this season and don't be afraid to sparkle, drawing inspiration from “The Nutcracker” in all its whimsy. Channel the enchanting Sugar Plum Fairy and charming Nutcracker Prince to become stars of your own gala.
To show you what we mean, we've asked members of the Dance Alive National Ballet company to take a break from rehearsals to model some of the season's glamorous looks on the Phillips Center's grand stage. With each scene, they create a bit of the dazzling winter atmosphere we Floridians crave each holiday season.
A special thanks to UF Performing Arts and The Phillips Center for providing the photo location, and to Dance Alive National Ballet and its dancers. Photo assistance by Elizabeth Hamilton

Leather and lace
While the Sugar Plum Fairy stuns the audience in a lace tutu, you may opt to add a bit more edge to your winter look with a leather dress. The leather keeps you warm while emitting a cool factor that will leave a lasting impression. To soften the look, find a dress that incorporates long sleeves and another fabric, such as this Gianni Bini laser-cut leather dress ($129, Dillard's) modeled by Dance Alive ballerina Carla Amancio. Her black Gianni Bini pointed-toe pumps ($89.99, Dillard's) and crystal necklace from Banana Republic ($59.50) complete the look. Amancio's partner, Fhilipe Teixeira, is handsome and comfortable in a black Banana Republic suit ($505), purple button-down shirt ($79.50), striped purple tie ($59.50) and Ecco New Jersey dress shoes ($150, Dillard's).
Bring on the bling
Be the center of attention in an embellished sleek dress. While we all aren't blessed with the long, lean body of Russian Dance Alive company member Julia Ponomareva, anyone can pull off the embellished look. Whether the studs are scattered or concentrated on the sleeves, as seen on the burgundy Caché dress ($168) Ponomareva dons, the shimmer will enhance the look and make you feel like a red-carpet regular. The outfit is completed with sky-high Gianni Bini pumps ($58.50, Dillard's). Fellow company member Ramil Bagmanov, models a Banana Republic pinstripe suit ($508). Accented with a pink button-down shirt ($79.50), black tie ($59.50) and black Ecco dress shoes ($170, Dillard's), the suit is a sophisticated yet fun approach to holiday party wear.
It may seem unusual, but winter florals are all the rage this season. A go-to for spring and summer, these floral patterns incorporate darker hues, such as the Antonio Melani dress Amancio models ($95.40, Dillard's). Red, black and a hint of deep turquoise give the flowers an edgy look that's perfect for a winter party. A sparkling rhinestone tennis bracelet ($29.50, Banana Republic) adds some texture while the pointed-toe pumps finish the look. Fhilipe sports a more casual, yet nonetheless suave look, wearing black pants ($150), a blue plaid button-down ($79.50) and a cerulean sweater ($69.50), all from Banana Republic.
Go with the flow
Thin, flowing fabric has been a staple for creating soft, feminine looks. Ponomareva's Gianni Bini maxi dress ($139, Dillard's) has a leather top to balance out the chiffon skirt, effortlessly creating a hard/soft vibe. The Gianni Bini pumps add an elegant touch. Bagmanov shows how to properly bundle up this season, wearing pinstripe pants ($160), light navy button-down ($79.50), piped half-zip navy pullover sweater ($79.50) and a black wool peacoat ($250), all from Banana Republic.
Dance Alive company member Gretel Batista emotes old Hollywood glamour in this black lace Caché dress ($198). Draped over a burgundy slip, the deep color palette epitomizes the cool edge of winter. The dress commands attention as the carefully sewn sequins shimmer with each step. Paired with elegant strappy Gianni Bini sandals ($79.99, Dillard's) and two gold rhinestone bracelets ($64.50, Banana Republic), the look becomes party ready. The dashing Alexsey Kuznetsov models a Banana Republic charcoal suit ($405), a burgundy button-up ($59.50) and a striped black tie ($59.50). Wearing Johnson and Murphy dress oxfords ($99.99, Dillard's), he and Gretel are ready to dance and mingle all night.
