A Gainesville man was arrested Saturday after police say he threatened to kill three people, one of whom was disabled, with a two-foot-long jack handle.
Christopher Gerod Carter, 37, of 2601 NE 50th Drive, became upset over a civil issue Saturday afternoon, according to a Gainesville Police report.
Carter threatened to kill three victims, at least two of whom were women, the report said. He told the victims he would grab a brick and then got a jack handle from the back of his truck. He advanced toward each victim, one at a time.
The victims ran from Carter and hid. One of the women helped the disabled victim into the safety of her vehicle and shut the door.
Carter continued chasing the victims and making threats, claiming he would burn one of the victim’s houses down, police said.
Carter’s girlfriend tackled the man and wrestled the jack handle away from him before any injuries occurred.
She told police she had to block his path, drag him backwards and take away the jack handle, according to a report.
Carter told police that he told the victims he’d break their windshield, but denied threatening them. Carter was arrested on three counts of aggravated assault.
