Police arrested a man and woman Wednesday night on accusations the two were stealing bicycles in an apartment parking garage.
Christopher Redwine, 36, and Pamela Murdaugh, 46, both of 27 SE Fourth Ave., were in the parking garage area of University House Apartments on Northwest 13th Street at 10:52 p.m. when the Gainesville Police Department found them, the police report said.
Redwine was trying to remove the wheels from a bicycle, valued at $100 each, while Murdaugh acted as a lookout, the report said. When police asked what they were doing, Redwine said the owner of the bicycle had asked him to come to the parking garage to remove the wheels and refill them with air, the report said.
Police said Redwine also had a large number of tools, including a hammer, vise grips and a utility knife. They also found two Methadone tablets on him, the report said.
Redwine and Murdaugh were charged with one count each of theft, and Redwine received an additional felony count of drug possession, according to the arrest report.
Both were booked into the Alachua County jail, where they remained Thursday awaiting bail.
