SCHOOL: Gainesville

YEAR: Senior

POSITION: Wide receiver

NUMBER: 17

HEIGHT: 6-foot-2

WEIGHT: 180 pounds

Area football player I would pay to watch play: Duke Dawson. He is a Florida commit. I went against him in a mini-camp, and he is just a great player. I like his physicalness.

Best movie I've ever seen: “Great Debaters” with Denzel Washington.

Coach Mark Latsko's best words of advice for me: Control what you can control.

Day of game (or big track meet), I do what to prepare myself? Just get my MP3 or Ipod, listen to some good music to get me hyped up for the event, and just go out and handle business. I probably crack jokes with my teammates.

Easiest class or part of the school day: Lunch

Favorite sports moment: Crunch time, when you are at a track meet and you are coming to the last event and are counting on it or the last drive of a football game.

Game-winning scenario I have dreamed of: State championship, down by 4 points, we have to score the game-winning touchdown and the ball is in my hands.

Having 29 college offers (and growing), the recruiting process for me has been ... Interesting. It has been great and kind of been aggravating at times. But it's been good through the whole process.

Interesting thing about me away from football and track: I love to laugh, great person to be around and joke around with.

Joker on the team: Juan Jenkins, he is always doing some funny stuff before practice or before a game.

Key to becoming a good sprinter is ... Work ethic, going hard at every practice and never giving up.

Least favorite Gainesville High sports moment: Losing the state championship game last year.

My pick to win this year's BCS National Championship based on what I have seen so far is ... Alabama. SEC is going to keep winning for years to come.

Neatest electronic toy or gadget I have: iPhone. I need my iPhone.

One person in my life who inspires me most: My mother. She kind of put me in this position, gave me everything I need and led me to be the successful young man I am right now.

Playing in last year's Class 6A state championship was ... Very intense environment and very hot.

Quirky habit: I laugh at inappropriate times.

Running with Tony James, Dontarian Evans and Craig Joiner and winning the 4x100 relay at the AAU Junior Olympic Games last summer in Michigan was ... A very emotional moment. We thought about winning, but never thought it would happen in our last year of running together. It was a great moment. I was speechless.

Superstition I have: Never split the poles in the hallway, it is bad luck.

The thing that impresses me most about our team, having won 15 straight home games, back-to-back district titles and earning our fifth straight playoff berth is ... We came together, we are very united. Very core group and we love each other.

Underrated positions on the football field? The O-line and defensive line.

Vacation spot I would love to go: Hawaii.

Which would mean more, winning the 400 meters at state this year or winning the state championship in football? Winning the state championship in football. Because I get to win it with the senior class and with my team and with my head coach and other coaches that sort of raised me through my high school football career.

Note: Young placed third at last year's 3A state meet in the 400 meters

Xbox, PlayStation or Wii? Xbox, NCAA Football 14

Year I was born: 1996

Zoo animal I like most: The lion, because he is the king of the jungle.
