Thursday is the deadline for submitting comments on Florida's K-12 English literacy and math standards to the state Department of Education.
The department has been collecting feedback on the Common Core State Standards, which the Florida Legislature adopted in 2010 and the state had slated for full implementation by the 2014-2015 school year.
But the standards have drawn criticism from several groups, including Gov. Rick Scott, who initially backed Common Core, which is replacing the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards.
The Florida Department of Education has received about 13,000 comments on the standards to date, according to the agency's Twitter account, where a tally is kept. A review of the comments will be passed to the Florida Board of Education for discussion during its Nov. 19 meeting at Santa Fe College.
Comments may be submitted online at floridastandards.org or by email to email@example.com.
