SUN CITY CENTER — Two Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies suffered serious injuries while conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 75 near Sun City Center.
The deputies were alert and talking while being taken to Tampa General Hospital on Friday morning. Officials shut down the southbound lanes of the interstate while an investigation continues.
The sheriff's office says Capt. Steve Launikitis and Master Deputy Chris Davis stopped a motorcyclist and were standing on the grass should to talk to him when another motorcyclist struck them.
According to the sheriff's office, the second cyclist didn't see the deputies. He wasn't injured.
