Police arrested a Gainesville man early Thursday after they said he stabbed a woman several times while she sat in a car, according to a report.

The woman had several superficial cuts on her chest and a cut on her left shin, the Gainesville Police report said.

Christopher Paul Homan, 37, of 2550 NW 54th Blvd., was arguing with the woman at around midnight when he swung at her with a knife as she sat in the driver's seat of her car, the report said.

Homan struck her several times as she tried to stop him by grabbing his wrist through the window. The door was open and Homan continued to strike at her, hitting her in the left shin.

The report did not detail the extent of the woman's injuries.

Homan was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery, dating violence. He was being held without bond on Thursday at the Alachua County jail.
