Some Halloween parties get rowdy, and some are meant simply to help with fundraising.
Chaotic Vibez Entertainment will serve as the main sponsor of Friday night’s Halloween Latin Party, which Chaotic Vibez owner Estaban Santamaria calls a party whose “purpose is to bring the world’s Hispanic culture to Gainesville.”
Thirty percent of money from the party will go to the Hispanic Student Association and Gator Salsa Club at the University of Florida, he said.
The party will be held Friday starting at 9:30 p.m. at Florida Theater, 233 W. University Ave. Admission to the event is $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
This year’s annual Halloween party is different, Santamaria said, in that the event will host well-known reggaeton artists Rawayana and Dynamiko.
Also, there will be a live performance by Jory, most known for his songs “More,” “Bien Loco” and “Traila.”
“Our goal is to go out to support Latin cultures and surrounding cultures,” Santamaria said.
Josť Miranda, a 21-year-old political science and international studies senior at UF and president of the Hispanic Student Association, said fundraising is a great way to help out with scholarship.
“In this economy, it’s hard to do fundraising,” Miranda said. “I’m happy that Chaotic Vibez is donating money to our organization.”
Santamaria said he’s expecting about 1,200 participants for the party.
One of the best thing about the event is that it allows Hispanics to find themselves here in Gainesville, he said.
“Anywhere you go, it’s always about the regular American parties,” he said. “But this party allows Hispanics to get with one another.”
