Oak Hall cross country earns District 5-1A title

Oak Hall placed the top six runners, led by Brittney Olinger's winning time of 18:54.70, as the Eagles girls team cruised to another District 5-1A title on Thursday at St. Francis.

Placing second through sixth for Oak Hall were: Lindsay Rosenberg (2nd, 19:22.50); Lauren Perry (third, 19:27.60); Talia Carlson (fourth, 19:29.20); Nadiria Evans (fifth, 19:36.70) and Grace Blair (sixth, 19:55.60).

Oak Hall, along with second-place team finisher P.K. Yonge and St. Francis, qualified as a team to the regionals at Santa Fe College on Nov. 2. The Wolves' top finisher was Marcella Perez in seventh (20:41.80) with the Blue Wave's top finisher, Laksmi Arroyo (22:05.30), taking 10th.

In boys competition, P.K. Yonge, led by Joseph Janson's winning time of 16:34.20, edged Oak Hall by two points. Austin Perry of Oak Hall placed second individually (17:09.70). St. Francis came in third.

The Blue Wave, Eagles and Wolves all qualified for regionals. Joseph Sansalone (18:43.90) had St. Francis' best finish individually at 10th.
