SCHOOL: Oak Hall
POSITION: No. 2 on boys golf team
Area girls golfer I would pay to watch play: Taylor Tomlinson. No one hits the ball as well as she does. It has been an amazing seven years with her. I don't think my game would have progressed so much if I hadn't been playing alongside her.
Best movie I've ever seen: “Wedding Crashers.” I'm a big fan of Vince Vaughn.
Coach John Ives' best words of advice for me: Just make the putt.
Dinner on an ideal night: I love Outback Steakhouse, that is my favorite place to go before tournaments. I get the filet.
Easiest class or part of the school day: Yearbook. It is really relaxing, and I get to be creative.
Favorite thing about playing with teammate Taylor Tomlinson: Our parents have known each other forever. We have been on the golf team for seven years, we have been lifers at Oak Hall. She has an awesome short game. It is honor to be playing with her because it is like watching poetry in motion. She is just a great example for everyone in the golf community.
(Note: Taylor Tomlinson won The Sun's girls golfer of the year award in 2012 and has committed to UF)
Golf course I would love to play: Militia Hill Golf Course near Philadelphia. I always play with my grandfather and grandmother. I always play well there when I play in the summer.
Having the Class 1A, Region 2 tournament at UF's Mark Bostick Golf Course on Monday is ... Exciting, it has been there so long. It is a great wrap up with the tradition and all.
Interesting thing about me away from golf: I really enjoy playing tennis with friends and on the school team. I am also editor of the yearbook and I really enjoy that.
Joker on the golf team: J.T. Hayes and Cooper Ross, they are the two seventh-graders on the team. They are hilarious and made all the practices so much more fun this year.
Key to keeping my composure when I am not playing as well as I would like is ... Mr. Ives has a knack for showing up whenever I have a bad hole or miss a putt. He usually gets me in the right mindset that I need.
Least favorite Oak Hall sports moment: Losing county my sophomore year was quite the heartbreaker since it was my score that lost it for them.
My favorite moment of the season ... Playing GHS was definitely the highlight because I got to go up against my freshman brother, Jack. He's a great golfer with really good composure. I always love watching him play.
Neatest electronic toy or gadget I have: My iPhone.
One person in my life who inspires me most: My parents. They have always been there for me, and their unwavering support has got me where I am today.
Playing on the boys team, since Oak Hall didn't have a girls team this year, has been ... Very interesting to say the least. I've learned a lot. I think I've grown from it. It's been an experience. Playing the yardage that were longer than we did last year by a lot and playing with boys. I think it really help to improve all of our games mentally, and I think we got more distance out of it.
Question I would ask Phil Mickelson, my favorite golfer? How did you get your short game so good?
Reading newspapers or browsing the Internet to get my high school sports information? Definitely reading the newspaper.
Superstition I have: I have used the same blue Sharpie since freshman year, and I am always scared it is going to run out at a tournament.
Tiger Woods is ... He is a really good golfer. I don't think he is a role model morally, but for his game a lot of people can take away a lesson from his hard work and dedication.
Universities or colleges considering: Washington Lee University is my No. 1 choice.
Vacation spot I love: North Carolina in the summer. I love going up to the mountains and visiting my grandparents.
Wackiest thing I have ever seen on a golf course: I've seen some boars out here (Gainesville Golf and Country Club).
Xbox, PlayStation or Wii? I'm not really a video game person, but probably Xbox.
Year I was born: 1996
Zoo animal I like most: Toucan, they are really pretty.
