A Gainesville man was charged with burglary and battery charges after police say he punched another man through his front screen door, hitting him in the right eye. At 9:35 a.m. Monday
, Hans Alexander Belanger was inside his home at 804 NW 11th Ave. with Ronald Leonard Kay, who witnessed the events, when they heard a knock at the front door, according to a Gainesville Police Department report.
When Belanger opened the door, he didn’t see anyone.
At this point, according to the report, Andrew Phillip Fallstich, 29, of 122 NW Seventh Terrace, approached the front door from the side of the house and punched through the screen door, hitting Belanger in his right eye.
Once arrested, Fallstich admitted to police that he punched Belanger in the face, claiming that Belanger had meddled in a relationship between Fallstich and a woman he was involved with two years before.
Fallstich told police that Kay then came outside with a machete, so he left.
Fallstich was arrested less than an hour later two blocks from the residence and charged with one count of felony burglary and one count of misdemeanor battery.
