A Lake City woman who authorities say took her teenage child with her on a burglary during which the victim fired at them was arrested Monday by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
Charged with burglary and larceny was Brandy Lee Colwell, 30, of 198 SW Sweetgum Glen, according to a sheriff’s news release.
Detectives developed information that Colwell was a suspect in several recent burglaries in the Lake City Country Club neighborhood, sheriff’s spokesman Mark Pentolino reported.
Stolen property was found in her front yard by detectives. Colwell gave consent to search her home, and stolen property from several cases was located, Pentolino reported.
Colwell was charged with one count of burglary and theft, but at least nine other burglary charges might be filed, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
During an interview with detectives, Colwell admitted that her 13-year-old child was with her during a burglary in which a victim fired a gun as they fled the scene, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
