A Gainesville man was arrested over the weekend after deputies said he threatened another man with a wooden stick for money.
Cyrus Hallmon, 50, of 904 SW 62nd Terrace, asked a man for $2 Sunday afternoon in the 6300 block of Southwest Ninth Avenue while threatening him with a wooden stick, according to the Alachua County Sheriff's Office. When the victim refused to give him money, Hallmon hit him on the head with a stick, which cut the victim’s head open, deputies reported.
During the authorities’ search for Hallmon near his house, Hallmon saw officers and fled, refusing commands to stop, according to an arrest report. When deputies arrested Hallmon, he told them his name was Clyde, the report said.
Hallmon was charged with robbery with a weapon and giving false identification to an officer, deputies said. He was being held Monday at the Alachua County jail in lieu of $17,500 bond.
