An Archer man was arrested Saturday evening after investigators say that a young girl under his care late last month was found to have drugs in her system.
Michael Edward Tucholski, 26, of 15130 SW 91st., was caring for a 9-year-old girl when she was taken to North Florida Regional Medical Center because she was unconscious and seemingly reacting to a drug overdose, according to a Gainesville Police report.
A preliminary test at the hospital revealed the girl had benzodiazepine in her system, the report said.
Tucholski told police the girl had been unsteady, was shaking and her speech was slurred. He said he gave her several medications and that she had convulsions and had to be helped to bed.
The girl told investigators that Tucholski had given her three white pills. She was still feeling the effects of the pills days later, she said.
Tucholski was arrested on charges of aggravated child abuse and neglect of a child causing great bodily harm. He was being held without bond at the Alachua County jail on Sunday.
