Want to get the very best out of life?
Dr. Christopher Bray hopes you'll dance. Build your connections with others. Embrace new ideas, whatever your age.
Bray is an internal medicine specialist with Gainesville Family Physicians, affiliated with North Florida Regional Hospital. He earned four degrees in college, followed by his M.D. degree and a Ph.D. in stem cell research.
So Bray is unlikely to simply listen to a recitation of health problems for 10 minutes before handing over a prescription for a pill intended to fix them. Instead, his prescription for improved health blends traditional medicine with advancements in nutrition, lifestyle modification, exercise, mental health and spiritual healing.
“We are not designed to sit in front of a computer and stare at a lightbox while tapping our fingers on a keyboard,” warns Bray. “We are not designed to walk while texting on our phones. We are not designed to vegetate in front of a television or video game system for hours on end.”
Many things limit the time today's physician can spend with a patient. Bray thinks those barriers do the patient a disservice.
