Modern smartphones are almost like digital people. They can be financial managers, navigators, communicators, assistants…and they can even be personal trainers.
Sound like a stretch?
Not according to Angela R. Smith, who lost more than 40 pounds in a little more than six months by logging in to a smartphone application on her iPhone to track her daily food intake and exercise.
“I totally credit that application for my success,” Smith, 56, says of MyFitnessPal, a free health application available on most smartphones. “There are many apps out there that do the same thing — help you keep track of your calories, nutrition information, exercise, and weight — but this one seemed to be the best one for me.”
As is true for many women of Smith's age, years of raising a family and working full time put her health and fitness on a back burner.
