When you have to go to the doctor as a child, you have the luxury of pitching a red-faced, vocal-cord straining fit complete with random foot stomps and declarations, such as “I no go!” and “You no make me!”
That's a little harder to pull off as an adult without people looking at you funny. Of course, there are times when it's still tempting. “You need to draw blood? Well it's mine, mine, mine and you can't have any!”
However, as we get older and accept the importance of doctors in our lives, they become more ally than adversary.
