First half: The Gator offense was clicking in the first half. UF had four possessions in the first half and scored touchdowns on three of them. The only one that failed was a field goal miss.

Second half: Florida simply tried to grind out the second half and did a pretty good job of it. Matt Jones had a career night with 176 rushing yards.

For the game: The interception was a bad one and could have ruined a good night, but Florida’s offense did what it had to do.

Defense B+

First half: The defense struggled mightily on the opening drive and had an almost bend-but-don’t-break half, allowing 124 yards.

Second half: The Gators threw a shutout in the second half against the Wildcats, who had a hard time getting the ball.

For the game: Big interception by Vernon Hargreaves III and Kentucky’s only points came on a special teams play? You’ll take that.

Special teams B

First half: It’s easy in hindsight to say the Gators should have been looking for the fake field goal, but they were badly fooled. Why they tried a 53-yard field goal was puzzling.

Second half: Hardin’s field goal was a big deal, but the special teams were pretty much silent in the second half.

For the game: Other than the fake field goal, it wasn’t a night for special teams. Hardin did kick off well again.

Overall B

Despite all of the adversity this team has been dealing with, the Gators got a win they had to have. Florida may have been boring in the second half, but that’s 27 straight over the Wildcats.
