Two men were arrested Tuesday on allegations they forced a man to strip naked before they robbed him of his cellphone and electronic cigarettes, Gainesville police reported.
Eric Bernerd Proffitt, 27, of 502 NW Second Ave., and Kyle Kramer Sullivan, 23, of 3335 NW 3rd St., were charged with armed robbery and false imprisonment for an incident that occurred Monday, according to their arrest reports.
Police reported that Proffitt and Sullivan were at the McDonald's restaurant at 201 NW 13th St. when they coerced and intimidated the victim into Sullivan's car.
They drove to a homeless camp behind Lowe's Home
Improvement at 2564 NW 13th St., where the victim was hit several times by Proffitt, police allege. The victim was forced to take off his clothes and Proffitt took his cellphone and electronic cigarettes. The victim was told to run away, which he did.
Under police questioning, the men admitted to the incident but said they did it because they thought the victim had stolen their cigarettes, the reports state.
