Police arrested a Gainesville man Sunday morning after they say he sexually battered and choked a woman.

Devonn Rasheen McCray, 20, of 2409 SE 12th St. was at the woman’s home around 6:25 a.m. to discuss issues related to a child when they began arguing. McCray demanded that she have sex with him before he would leave, according to a Gainesville Police report.

McCray pushed her to the ground and removed some of her clothing and the two struggled before the woman tried to leave the house. McCray then grabbed her by the neck and pushed her back inside the house, forced her to the floor and grabbed her around the neck, the report said.

While choking the woman, he sexually battered her before leaving, according to the report.

McCray was arrested on charges of sexual battery, domestic battery by strangulation and battery. He was being held at the Alachua County jail on Monday on $155,000 bond.
