Man dies, woman hurt when pickup overturns

A Gainesville man was killed and a woman seriously injured Friday night when the man lost control of his pickup truck and it overturned in Newberry, reported the Florida Highway Patrol.
Dead is Willie Smith Jr. Taken to UF Health Shands Hospital with serious injuries was passenger Sharon Marie Street, 45, FHP reported in a press release.
The accident happened about 9:30 p.m. on Southwest 250th Street in Newberry. Smith was driving a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup south on 250th Street, a graded limerock road with elevated shoulders, the release states.
Smith lost control and veered left onto the shoulder, overcorrected to the right and overturned on the road, according to troopers. FHP said that Smith was not wearing his seatbelt and was thrown from the cab.
Both Smith and Street were taken to Shands, where Smith died, FHP reported.
