A Gainesville man was arrested early Saturday on a domestic battery charge on allegations he beat his wife, who needed treatment at an emergency room, reported the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.
Charged was Richard James Busch, 47, of 4000 SW 47th St., Unit G31, according to an arrest report.
A sheriff’s deputy responded to a call at the Oak Park Mobile Home Park around 12:41 a.m. about a woman breaking the window of a home and arguing with a man.
A witness told authorities Busch grabbed the woman by her hair and hit her in the face four or five times with his fist or palm while she was squatting on the porch.
The deputy found the woman injured on her right arm from breaking a glass window, the report states.
Busch and the woman told the deputy they had been drinking at the American Legion and became drunk. Neither admitted to getting into any kind of fight, the report states.
Both were having a very difficult time standing and listening to instructions, according to the report.
The woman was taken to the UF Health Shands Hospital emergency room with a severely injured right arm, the deputy reported.
