P.K. Yonge responded after losing its first volleyball match of the season Wednesday at St. Francis by winning the Lake Highland Prep/Winter Park Tournament at the Orlando Sports Center on Saturday.

“It is a big mental turnaround,” P.K. Yonge coach Chad Davis said. “Although there were very good teams in this tournament, we were expecting to win it. But to come out of it undefeated is a big plus. It shows a great mental recovery after an extremely disappointing loss.”

The Blue Wave (11-1) went 5-0 in the tournament and were led by the play of Jac’cara Walker, Kayla Simmons, Sammy Mueller, Eboni Harris, Gabby O’Connell and Cameron Childs in the three wins Saturday.

P.K. Yonge defeated Westminster Christian, 25-20, 25-14, in the title match.
