Construction will begin Tuesday on a left turn lane on Northwest 34th Street at the entrance to the North Central Florida YMCA.

Work includes widening the roadway by six feet on each side to allow for the new 12-foot left-turn lane, upgrading drainage and replacing the guardrail between Northwest 30th Terrace, 52nd Place and 29th Terrace.

Construction is expected to last approximately two months, depending on weather and other unexpected circumstances.

Lane closures will be possible between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.

An average of 15,000 vehicles travel this section of Northwest 34th Street each day, according to the state Department of Transportation.
