Xavier Monroe is a 23 year old civic leader and Educational Leadership & Policy graduate student at the University of Michigan in which he will be graduating from in 2014. He is a 2008 Eastside High School graduate, and for several years he served on the Alachua County Library District Board of Trustees and the Putnam-Alachua-Levy Library Cooperative Governing Board (2010-2013). He also is the former president of the Alachua County NAACP Youth Council (2007-2011). In 2013 he completed his undergraduate studies in civil engineering and history with minors in education and African studies at UF. During his time at UF he was a member of Florida Blue Key.

His contributions in the community have been numerous from his time serving as a member of the Rosa Parks Quiet Courage Committee (Treasurer 2008-2010), Gainesville Cultural Arts Coalition (2009-2013), tutor at Rawlings elementary and a member of their school advisory council. In addition to all of that he is active at his church Compassionate Outreach Ministries. As a native of Gainesville, he has been active in the civic life of Gainesville since birth, so his service goes back for many years.
Dr. Michael Bowie, Commissioner Yvonne Hinson Rawls, County Commissioner Chuck Chestnut and State Representative Clovis Watson are all very familiar with Xavier's work and efforts on behalf of youth. Xavier will be moving back home after his year in graduate school, so he will bring that knowledge back home to Gainesville.
