After 30 years of straightening teeth in Gainesville as a self-employed orthodontist, Michael J. Aguirre sold his practice in 2011. Since then he has been serving the area pro-bono in the field of general dentistry. He has been volunteering at 4 clinics. Westside Baptist Church has a Good Samaritan Clinic where he has been caring for patients on 2-3 Thursdays in the evenings from 5:30-9:00 pm. ACORN clinic affiliated with UF Dental School is another clinic where he helps the students and patients with dental needs 2 afternoons a month. Gainesville Community Ministry also has a dental clinic where he has worked on numerous patients 2-3 times per month. Two more volunteer clinics where he has participated are "Dentistry from the Heart" and "Care to Share" projects. These projects have included other local dentists and hygienists who have given their time to people with low income for free dental work.
