A Gainesville man was arrested on domestic battery and assault charges early Saturday for allegedly beating his girlfriend, according to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.
Lexly Miguel Roberts, 23, of 3306 SE 22nd Place, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and domestic battery, according to an arrest report.
The incident occurred about 3:40 a.m. when Roberts, possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs, returned to the home the couple share, the sheriff’s report states.
Without reason or warning, he punched the woman several times on her face, causing her cheek and the bridge of her nose to swell, the report states. He also punched her in the arm.
Roberts is also accused of holding a dining room chair in a threatening manner, causing the woman to believe he was going to strike her with the chair.
