A Gainesville man was arrested on battery charges Friday when he allegedly forced his way into his mother’s home and attacked his brother, reported the Gainesville Police Department.
Daquan Xavier Hill, 19, of 1615 NE 16th Ave., was charged with assault and battery during a robbery and domestic battery, his arrest report states.
The incident happened about 5:52 p.m. Friday. Hill is accused of going to his mother’s apartment, where he is not welcome, and forcing his way in when his brother answered the door, the report states.
Hill began arguing with his brother, a minor, and then attacked him, police said. Hill hit his brother once on his face and once on his shoulder, police said. The brother also had large scratches on his back.
Under police questioning, Hill said he went to the apartment to visit his mother, who had recently gotten out of the hospital. The report states he told police he followed his mother and two brothers inside, thus being invited in. Police said Hill also told officers he and his brother were wrestling.
Hill’s mother told police that Hill did not follow her in and that she was inside her room at the start of the altercation.
