ALACHUA COUNTY - A Lake City man, who local authorities said assaulted a woman and took her car after a dispute at an Ocala apartment complex, was arrested by a Florida Highway Patrol trooper in Alachua County Thursday for a driving infraction and violation of probation.
The victim told an Ocala police officer that she, her daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend, Kirstin Sconiers, were in her car when she drove into the Forest Hills Apartments at 2444 SE Fifth Circle and Sconiers began yelling and cursing at her, according to the arrest report.
She said Sconiers told her to take him and her daughter to the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles so his girlfriend could get a new driver’s license. She said he continued to yell, and threatened her, so she told him she wasn’t going to take him anywhere. She said he snatched the keys from the ignition, put her in a head lock and grabbed her cellphone and threw it on the ground, breaking it. She said he forced her out of the vehicle, ordered her daughter to get in, and drove away, the report notes.
As the incident was being reported, the officer received a call from an FHP trooper who said the car was recovered during a traffic stop in Alachua County and Sconiers had been arrested for driving on a suspended license and a violation of probation charge from Orange County.
Sconiers was taken to the Alachua County Jail. He will face charges in Marion County of robbery/carjacking, aggravated battery and obstructing justice.
