At just the age of 21 , Kierra Brown has managed to start one of Gainesville's fastest growing full service party entertainment company, Capes & Tiaras LLC. Capes & Tiaras is the ONLY company in Gainesville, FL specializing in princess and superhero impersonators. Kierra's creativity and imagination has taken the vision of her company to levels that she has never imagined. What started as a one- woman show quickly evolved into a company offering more than 20 characters for hire and a staff of almost 40 student actors. Kierra has also incorporated professional face painting, birthday event planning and magicians services into her business within the past two months.
About Kierra Brown
Occupation: Capes & Tiaras, Owner
Years in Gainesville: Gainesville Native - 21 years
Although a fairly new company, Kierra has managed to partner with the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation and The Children's Miracle Network, both organizations benefiting the Shand's Children Hospital. Kierra's community efforts doesn't stop there; inspired by her actors, her young customers, and the Gainesville community, she started two community programs Superheroes in Action and Project Princess. Through both programs, Kierra offers her services free of charge to any non-profit organization with a charitable cause as it relates to the betterment of children's health, academics, and well-being. Both groups promotes community service and encourages her actors to give and serve through their time. Upcoming community appearances will include, Alachua County Library Literacy Festival and Footsteps at Shands (a buddy program in the pediatric oncology unit at Shands).
Kierra's efforts are not only changing the lives of children, but she's encouraging and aspiring young entrepreneurs as well. She has been a light in the black community for women and men. Raised in a single-parent home for most of her adolescence, she has broken barriers proving that no one has to be a product of your environment and you can conquer your dreams with diligence and hard work. Her life is role model to many.
Kierra is a student, business owner, and an employee at the University of Florida's Large Animal Hospital. She serves as a member with the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, a member at Spirit of Faith Christian Center, and an active volunteer with multiple organizations in the Gainesville community. Kierra is also co-founder of Eastside High School's Diamond's Mentoring Program.
Kierra Brown is a remarkable young woman and it gives me great honor to nominate my daughter for this year's 2013 Gainesville Spirit of Award, Entrepreneurship.
