Gigi Simmons is a 40 year resident of Gainesville who returned from college to her homeplace in Porters Quarters to help her neighborhood reclaim its original position as a caring and family-oriented community.
While rearing her sons and forming her own business, Simmons Tax Service LLC, she has been instrumental in improving conditions there and motivating citizens inside & out of the neighborhood to come together to create better conditions in the area. She organized the Heat Wave program and coached the basketball team in addition to serving as President of the Porters Community Association.
In 2012 she was awarded the Albert Ray Massey Citizen Volunteer Award and was name the Gainesville Police Dept. Neighborhood Hero. She is an inspiration to all of us young and old alike.
As she studies to receive her Masters' Degree in Public Administration, she is preparing to bring even greater benefits to the Gainesville community at large.
