Columbia, which pounded Gainesville 49-7 in the season opener in Lake City on Friday, jumped three spots to No. 4 in Class 6A in the latest Associated Press rankings released Tuesday for Florida high school football. The Hurricanes (0-1), Class 6A finalists a year ago, dropped out of the poll, although they did receive some votes.

In Class 1A, Union County (1-0), which shut out Jacksonville Potter's House 34-0 in one half of play, moved up to No. 2 behind top-ranked Bratt Northview. Trenton and Lafayette, which played to a 7-7 first half before the game was called because of lightning, were at No. 3 and No. 5, respectively. The Tigers dropped a spot from No. 2 a week ago.
