After a few thin years, Santa Fe College employees got a bigger raise this year.
Full-time employees received a 5 percent raise in base pay, and part-time employees received 3 percent, human resources director Lela Frye said.
"Even in these lean years, we've tried to do something," she said. "There's never been a year that they haven't received something."
By comparison, last year full-time employees received a 2 percent raise, and a couple of years ago every employee got a one-time bonus, Frye said.
This year, the college had more money available to put into raises. Frye said the college's administration has been committed to making sure employees receive regular increases in base pay.
This year, "It's quite significant," Frye said.
Predictably, the highest-paid employees of SF College are all administrators.
President Jackson Sasser holds the top spot, with a base salary of $260,000 per year.
Following him are Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Ed Bonahue, at $169,716; CFO and Vice President for Administrative Affairs Virginia Gibson, at $164,925; Vice President for Development Charles Clemons, at $158,051; and Vice President for Assessment, Research and Technology Lisa Armour, at $157,437.
The next 27 spots are held by lawyers, vice presidents, directors and department chairs, ranging from $142,664 for staff general counsel to $85,157 for the academic director of the Institute of Public Safety.
Seventeen SF College employees make $100,000 or more each year.
Of the 737 people on SF College's payroll, 506 of them earn between $30,000 and $59,999 annually. Most of the college's professors fall into that range.
A few professors who started teaching at SF College in the 1970s saw their salaries go into the $80,000 range this year.
The median salary of all full-time employees is $44,707. Salaries for professors start at about $40,000.
Ten full-time employees, comprising most of the full-time custodial staff, earn less than $20,000 annually.
