LAKE BUTLER — Union County jumped to a 34-0 lead over Jacksonville Potter's House Christian at the half, which was good enough to call it a game after lightning reached the area.
Isiah Johnson scored on a 27-yard pass from quarterback Caleb Cox and on a 53-yard run to give Union County a 13-0 lead after a quarter.
Cox connected with Geordyn Green for a 57-yard TD pass, Buddy Edwards scored on a 20-yard run and Phillip Lilly scored from 11 yards out to wrap up the scoring for the Tigers in the season-opener for both teams. Talon Tyler added four extra-point kicks.
Cox completed three of six passes for 89 yards and the two scores.
Green and Johnson rushed for 82 yards apiece.
CHIEFLAND 48, PIERSON TAYLOR 0: Alphonson Timmons rushed for three touchdowns and 158 yards to lead the visiting Indians (1-0). Timmons had scoring runs of 25, 18 and three yards.
DeShawn Roland scored on a 15-yard fumble return and with a 63-yard pass play from Shaquille Patterson for Chiefland.
BELL 52, TAMPA CAMBRIDGE CHRISTIAN 40: Austin Ritchey rushed for 246 yards and four touchdowns on 28 carries to lead the Bulldogs (1-0).
Justin Terry and John Oslager also had scoring runs for Bell.
CANCELLATIONS: The Fort White at Hamilton County game was canceled because of lightning. The teams could not hammer out a make-up date.
The West Nassau at Keystone Heights game was called with six minutes left in the first half because of lightning. West Nassau was leading 14-0 at the time the teams were called off the field.
The schools athletic directors will meet to discuss the possibility of a make-up date.
Also canceled were Bradford at Suwannee and Monticello Aucilla Christian at Branford.
