A Gilchrist County man with a record as a sexual offender was arrested Tuesday on sexual battery and other charges on accusations he victimized a child, Gilchrist County Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Manning reported.

Jeffrey John Allen, 49, was arrested on one count of sexual battery, two counts of unnatural and lascivious conduct and three counts of lewd and lascivious molestation, Manning reported in a news release.

Deputies went to an undisclosed location in response to a call for service. Investigators determined that several offenses with a juvenile victim had been committed and arrested Allen without incident, Manning reported.

Allen was convicted of sexual offenses involving a child in 1994 in Pasco County, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement database.

He was in a state prison from March 1994 to December 1997.
