"WAKE AND BAKE" WITH LESS THAN JAKE:
Starting Friday, Gainesville's Less Than Jake returns home for three nights of shows at High Dive as part of its second annual “Wake and Bake Weekend” of hometown events. Performances begin at 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The group also will perform a special brunch set at noon Sunday at Loosey's.

The rock group Crooked Counsel will perform songs by artists ranging from Adele to Led Zeppelin in this week's “Free Fridays” concert at the Bo Diddley Community Plaza.

Surf's up Saturday when the Florida Museum of Natural History opens two new exhibits. “Surfing Florida — A Photographic History” celebrates the state's surfing history with photos and graphics, and “Surf Science — Waves and Wildlife” explores the science of waves and animals on the beach. Both exhibits will continue through Jan. 20, 2014.

A.R. Gurney's “Love Letters,” with Joe and Wando Roe playing a couple recounting their lifelong relationship by reading letters to each other, continues Friday and Saturday with a final performance on Sunday at the High Springs Community Theater.
