A disturbance at an open house party in Gainesville early Sunday morning ended when police say a man pointed a gun at two partiers and chased them across a parking lot.
Andres Garcia, 20, of Palmetto Bay, aimed the gun at the two males and said they had three seconds before he shot them, before counting down slowly from three to one, the Gainesville Police report said.
Garcia never fired a shot and no one was injured, according to the report.
Police said that Garcia and another man were arguing with the two victims at 3 a.m. at a party at 1212 SW 5th Ave. when Garcia pulled out a small black semiautomatic handgun.
He chased the pair off the apartment complex and threatened to shoot them as they stood with their hands up on the sidewalk, the report said.
Police searched Garcia’s apartment and found a small black handgun in a laptop box in a closet as well as an ankle holster for the handgun.
The victims both identified Garcia and the handgun as the one that had been pointed at them. After first denying it, Garcia told police the gun was his.
Garcia was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault. He was being held without bond Sunday at the Alachua County jail.
