A Gainesville man early Saturday morning pulled out a 4-foot-long sword and threatened to stab his roommate of two weeks, police said.
Joshua Alan Hobson, 26, of 2701 SW 13th St., got into an argument with Mark Carson at 3:20 a.m. when Hobson grabbed the sword and pointed the tip of the blade at Carson’s midsection and said he was going to kill him, according to the Gainesville Police report.
Carson locked himself in a bedroom and called 911 while Hobson unsuccessfully tried to get in.
Police found Hobson sitting outside with the sword next to him, the report noted. Hobson at first said he had the sword out because Carson was interested in seeing it, then told police he had it for self-defense.
Hobson was arrested on a count of aggravated assault. He was being held on Sunday at the Alachua County jail on $15,000 bond.
