A car and an Alachua County school bus collided Monday afternoon on the first day of the school year. None of the students on board were injured.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the bus carrying 20 elementary and middle school students was headed west on Archer Road in the left lane at 4:40 p.m. just as a Toyota driven by Harold G. Bajusz, 21, of Coconut Creek, was leaving a parking lot near Tower Road.
The car made a wide right turn into the westbound lanes of Archer Road then went into the lane of the school bus. The front and left side of the Toyota collided with the right side of the bus, driven by Gabriela C. Morell, 36, of Hawthorne.
No one was injured. Bajusz was cited by the FHP for running a stop sign, the report said.
